Friends by Dorothy

Today has been a challenging day for Dorothy Spradlin....................
I am trying to understand how at times it seems so hard to understand women and to be a woman.
I mean we are difficult people I know, trust me I AM ONE.

Why do we feel the need to always have to feel right or be right? From what I can remember we have been fighting for this role because there is not a balance between Man and Women & GOD, for so many decades and century's we have just missed the part. We have tried to fill the shoes of God and for lack of headship in our homes, play the role of a man. I understand sometimes God puts us in that role for a season or when life brings us uncertain things, but we need to really understand the consequences it brings us in our every day lives. If we choose the role of headship by choice then be happy with the results. Don't murmur and complain that things don't work out, don't be bitter about the outcome............ACCEPT it.

Or maybe find out what your role is by simply asking out creator, we might save ourselves from undoed stress, less complication, and going around some of the same mountains day to day like the Israelites did.

God created us Women for so much more than GOSSIP, LAZINESS, BICKERING, COMPLAINING, COMPLACENCY, MANIPULATION, SEDUCTION, INTIMIDATION & CONTROL.

Let's get this ladies, let's ask a perfect God who we are and let's desire to be more like him. What will it take for you and I to become a Proverbs 31 Woman?

I am willing to strip myself of what this world thinks we should be or how they tend to mold us. Will you?

I challenge YOU!

Saving the day!!! by Dorothy

Hello Bloggers and hello Silc, and hello world!

I am so thrilled to say that I had a blast this weekend as well at the decorators warehouse where the place was filled with my favorite things..........................

Home decor, jewelry, food, and accessories.
How can you go wrong with that?

Now upon our adventure to this no mans land place that took freaking forever to get too, it was worth the drive. I learned so much about decorating and I want to give a shout out to Veronica who allowed me the opportunity to get in touch with my T.V. Broadcasting skills, and I even met one of the most beautiful brides that was getting married in December. To my surprise Eileen blurted out "Dorothy look there is a bride over there" and what do I do, I hunt her down to see what she is doing in a place like this, only to find none other than "A real Bride" she was wearing a beautiful imported dress from Italy and her hair had ring curls and she was so beautiful.................she and her mother were taking bridal pictures. You should of seen people as they entered and people as they shopped stopping to see this wonderful event. It was magical. So I start putting my good camera to use and the next thing you know I go from fixing her train in each shot to having her do poses and re-assembling the already decorated stages........lol.

It was awesome, and I am so glad to be apart of this. Come to find out and bless her heart (Sarha you'll like that) The mother of the brides camera was on the wrong setting......oh no................but I then became a professional photographer and took many many photos of the bride to be. So hear I go again to save the day!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH, aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaahhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaa

Hence I have sent those very one of a kind pictures to the bride and her mom. I am so hoping that they will be perfect. I have to believe that sometimes God puts us in the right place at the right time!

So be blessed Mother and Bride to Be, this is for you!

Love,

Dorothy

Hooray for Kelly by Sarah

At our very first ever SILC meeting, before we even knew it was SILC yet, Kelly told us that she wanted to us to go to the tea room in Arlington Texas. Two years later... she finally got her wish. Bless her heart.

Side note: bless your heart is a term created by old Southern women to give them something pleasant to say when they see an ugly baby. "Well bless it's little heart..." And don't try and tell me there are no ugly babies. There are and you know it. Now, if they ever add in the pea-pickin part, you need to pray for your child right then. "Bless it's little pea-pickin heart..." is the worst possible thing that could be said. Now you know...

But back SILC. The Rose Garden Tea Room was located inside The Decorators Warehouse in Arlington. It took us just under an hour to get there but the decorator part to me really made it worth it. There is a sign on the side of the building that reads "#1 Christmas Store in Texas". And as you know, everythings bigger in Texas. Including Dorothys hair.

The tea room part was so so to me. I know Kelly will hate to hear that, but it's true. It was ok decoration but it just wasn't my cup of tea. (you get it!? I made a funny...) There was nothing wrong with the decor really, it just wasn't for me. I did, however, like their big TEAROOM sign!

The thing that really erked me the most was the chairs. I get that it's the rose GARDEN and that it was probably a big cost savings.... But they were lawn chairs. Green plastic and some white iron with slip covers. Maybe I'm being snooty but that's how I feel. There. I said it.

I feel better.

Let's talk about the food! After all, that's what we come to tea rooms for! HHEELLLLOO??

Eileen and I had the Chicken Salad Sandwich. Shocking, I know. The sandwiches themselves were very good sized and filling. A good overall chicken salad sandwich. It also came on some very pretty bread we haven't seen before! Something new and refreshing! The sandwiches only came with your choice of one side. Either fruit, salad, or a cup of soup. That disappointed me. Most places give you at least two sides. Eileen got the fruit and I had a cup of the soup of the day which was a chicken tortilla. Eileens fruit was good but there wasn't enough of it. She also enjoyed the poppy seed dressing that they make there in house, which is a big deal since Eileen isn't big on poppy seed stuff. The soup I had was good. Not great but it was good. Dorothy ordered a bowl with her sandwich. And this was a BOWL.

Just look at how big that bowl is next to her hand! I was impressed. Dorothy opted to have the club sandwich rather than the tuna after hearing they put onions in it. Bleh. I think the sandwich was ok. She didn't really say much about it. I do recall one comment that it was a little on the small side though...

Kelly I think had the sliced turkey which she seemed to really enjoy. She even mentioned how much she always enjoys it when we were first looking at the menus. It came with a dill dressing that she ordered on the side and used more as a dip.

We all had the house tea which all I can remember about it from the waitresses description was that it had rose hips in it. I was a little foggy brained at the time since I had no food. Food = good for my brain. But the tea was rather good!

Oh! I almost forgot to mention they did have these weird long garlicy crisp crouton like things on each table for us to snack on when we got there. But most of them got left behind due to lack of interest. Pay attention now: we left behind food. That tells the story right there.

Oh. And then there was this over priced from a box tasting strawberry cake that they had microwaved to make it warm. Hardly even worth the picture but the bunny ears make me laugh. Not good when your saving grace to make it into the review is Eileens bunny ears.

Then, my favorite part, the decorators warehouse. But more on that later. It deserves it's own post.

Bye for now!
