Its hot.
HOT.
Okay. Now that that's out of the way, we met this August on our two year silcaversary.
We went to Nee Nee's Tea Room which is located inside of Cobwebs Antiques in downtown Plano. The little antique shop was cute. I didn't actually know that the tea room was located inside them so I was excited to know we had some on site shopping we could do!
The tea room was very small inside. I felt like it was decorated a little sparcely. The walls were bright yellow which I don't think I would have done but I do understand the train of thought: small closed in space needing bright lively color. I get it. But still.
Our food, once we finally got to order it, was very good. But be warned, the sandwiches were a little on the small side. I recommend getting the full sandwich order and not the half sandwich special. If you are anything like these four hungry women, trust me, you'll need the other half. But they all came with fresh fruit! The soup of the day was Chicken Taco which all of us really loved except Eileen. But then again... lets be serious. It was Eileen. :) Love you!
I had the "special" of the day. A grilled cheese. When asked what was so wonderful about their grilled cheese the waitress told us they used two different kinds of cheeses.
SHUT THE FRONT DOOR.
Twoooo different cheeses?
.....
Really?
That's it?
Ok. So I tried it. Why not. If its good enough for Nee Nee its good enough for me! While I must say the super (not) original use two different cheeses did leave me wanting, the bread that it was served on was very well prepared. It looked like a normal white bread that was done like a garlic toast: just enough garlic with out being over powering and not so much butter that the bread was soggy. In the words of Goldie Locks it was jjjuussstt right.
Dorothy had a Deli sandwich with Turkey, Cheese, and Mustard. Again. Not super original but tasty none the less. Dorothy, believe or not, got the half sandwich special. And a cup, not a bowl of the soup. GASP! A Silc first!
Eileen and Kelly both took one step for mankind when they ordered a chicken salad sandwich. A tea room must. According to them, it was very good! And believe you me these ladies have tasted their fair share of chicken salad sandwiches. They also ordered the half sandwich special but later ordered and extra sandwich to split due to us being Americans.
We then had a somewhat lack luster photo shoot. I mean... when they best shot we get is from the "silly" photo... its not a good sign. See for yourself:
I don't know why we put Kelly in that chair. It looks like... "Hi. This is Eileen, Dorothy, Sarah, and their paraplegic friend Kelly!" Again. Not our best photo moment. I blame the photographer... yeah... the photographer.
So all in all... would I recommend Nee Nee's Tea Room? Hmm... I guess if you were shopping in DT Plano and were just hungry it would be okay, I mean the food was good, but I wouldn't do like the other people that were at the tea room today and host my bridal shower there. No.
